Psychological impact outlasts physical damage by years and is routinely under-resourced, so treating trauma management as core rather than peripheral is the correct emphasis. First aid here is the genuinely practical content of the course — the skills that matter in the window before professional help arrives. Awareness strategies work only when they are regionally specific: the right message for a flood plain is the wrong one for a seismic zone.
