GR-1.3 Aptitude: logical reasoning
You can handle the reasoning section — series, coding and decoding, blood relations, direction sense, seating arrangements, syllogisms — at the pace a placement paper sets.
Reasoning questions look unfamiliar and are almost entirely pattern recognition; the second time you meet a seating-arrangement puzzle it is a procedure. Work each family until the procedure is automatic, then mix them under time. As with the quantitative paper, the practice bank is external and free, and Funcognito's part is the order and the hours.
Work through these
Number series and letter series: one timed set, naming the pattern before you answer
Naming the pattern out loud, or on paper, before choosing an option is the habit that separates guessing from reasoning. Series questions reward it most because the pattern is the whole question.
Coding and decoding, blood relations, and direction sense: one set each
Three families with three fixed procedures: a substitution table, a family tree drawn on paper, and a compass sketch. Each takes a set to learn and then stops being a problem.
Seating arrangements and puzzles: work five slowly with a diagram, then five under time
The family students fear, and the one that most rewards a diagram. Five slow ones build the diagram habit; five timed ones show how much of the time the diagram saves.
Syllogisms and statements and conclusions: one set, writing the rule you used for each answer
The section where common sense is the wrong tool, because the questions are about what follows logically and not about what is true. Writing the rule keeps the two apart.
Add every wrong answer to the error log: the family, the reason, and the fix
The same log as the quantitative topic, carried on. Reasoning errors cluster even more tightly than arithmetic ones, usually around one family and one misread instruction.
A mixed twenty-five-question reasoning set in twenty-five minutes
The families mixed, which is how the paper serves them. Switching between procedures under time is its own skill and only appears once the sets are mixed.
