Six steady months beat six intense weeks followed by burnout, and this topic sets the loop that makes steadiness possible: spaced repetition, one small built thing per topic, and a public learning log. It sits in orientation because study habits compound across everything after. The trap it names is passive consumption — re-reading and re-watching feel like progress while producing none, and the antidote is building, however small.

Recall spread over increasing intervals is what makes knowledge stick; re-reading feels productive and mostly is not. This item is the study method the rest of the subject assumes.
Build one small thing per topic, not a big thing per month
One small finished thing per topic beats one large unfinished thing per month, because finished work is what you can revisit and show. It is also what stops a long syllabus becoming abandoned.
Reading a textbook chapter vs. a paper vs. a tutorial
A textbook, a paper and a tutorial are read at different speeds and for different purposes, and treating them alike is why reading feels slow. Knowing which one you have in front of you is the point.
Keeping a public learning log
A public record of what you learned, written as you go, becomes both a revision aid and evidence of persistence. It costs a few minutes a day and compounds.
