8.4 Varnams in two speeds
Play a varnam at both the speeds it is usually performed in.
A varnam is normally played at first speed and then at double, and the second speed is where the ornaments either survive or vanish. Getting it clean at speed is a different skill from getting it right slowly.
Work through these
Play one section at double speed with the tala unchanged.
Check that the ornaments are still there at the faster speed.
Play the whole piece in both speeds.
